Anthony Hilton

G. Anthony Hylton, the Member of Parliament for Western St. Thomas since 1993 has high on his agenda, major plans for the further upgrading of the constituency. His achievements include improvements in all areas of constituency life, foremost among them water supply, road improvement, sports development, housing, land distribution, agriculture, education, training centres, and telephone supplies. 

Approaching his 10th year in representational politics, Anthony Hylton, has held Cabinet portfolios including Minister of Foreign Trade and more recently, Minister of Mining and Energy. He previously served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and Executive Director of the Policy Review Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister. 

He is hailed by his constituents as a tireless worker whose achievements have transformed Western St. Thomas into an area of real national growth. 

Born on April 27, 1957 in Yallahs, St. Thomas, Anthony Hylton attended Yallahs School, Kingston College, the University of London, London Institute of World Affairs, Georgetown University Law Centre, and Morgan State University. As a university student he received several awards and honours.

The father of one son grew up in the company of his six siblings. He enjoys swimming, debating, football, track and field, reading, and cricket. Mr. Hylton has had prestigious career as a lawyer and businessman and is an accomplished negotiator. He was Legal Assistant to the General Counsel of the Inter-American Foundation and Director of the Jamaica Public Service Company.
