Veteran politician Harry George Douglas’ pet project the construction of the new and modern Annotto Bay High School is just one of his many achievements as Member of Parliament since 1989.
Indeed, Mr. Douglas, who was born in Belfield, St. Mary on April 1, 1942, sees that major breakthrough for education in the parish as just among the several others that will become reality, once he is given a new mandate by the electorate.
Married with four children, Mr. Douglas enjoys reading, and cricket. He attended Rock River All Age school, Bennett College in London, and New York University’s School of Continuing Education. He is a member of the Anglican Church.
Comrade. Douglas has ensured that the members of his constituency are able to empower themselves. As such, he has invested much in the infrastructure development of his constituency. He has assisted in the reconstruction and upgrading of several schools, among them Castleton, Enfield and Clonmel Primary schools to Junior High schools, and Richmond Secondary to Technical High.
He has also improved the Annotto Bay and Rock River Health Centres; reconstructed several roads; conducted massive river training for the Richmond, Fort George, Fort Stewart, and Broadgate areas; provided assistance for the needy, while assisting several youth clubs. He also sponsors the Annotto Bay Corner League football.
