Rehabilitation of Spanish Town Market for tender next month Thursday, April 11, 2002 Jamaica Observer |
SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine -- The Ministry of Local Government and Community Development has said the Spanish Town Market rehabilitation project will go to tender early next month.
Technical director, Patrick Wong, said that over the next few weeks, the ministry would be conducting economic, social and environmental analyses for the project. A comprehensive report will then be submitted to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the major funding agency.
"When the Bank gets the report, they will consider it and when they give us the no-objection, then we can go to tender on the project," he said.
Bids will be accepted from Grade 1 contractors who meet the pre-qualification specifications agreed on by the Ministry and the IDB. The rehabilitation project is expected to provide an additional 350 to 400 vending spaces at the market.
