FRIDAY'S closed door meeting of members of parliament and candidates of the People's National Party (PNP) was focused on organisational and communication issues, Huntley Medley, spokesman for the party told the Observer.
The meeting, called annually by the PNP president at the start of each year, received a report on the findings of a poll commissioned by the party and presented by election campaign director, Dr Paul Robertson.
"We think we are in the ballpark and that we are on a reasonable wicket. Support for the party in each constituency varies, and we have work to do. The election is out there to be won," Robertson told the Observer.
Finance Minister Dr Omar Davies also addressed the meeting at Le Meridien Jamaica Pegasus Hotel and outlined the fiscal and macro-economic parameters for the remainder of the current and coming financial year, Medley said.
Said Medley: "The party leader urged members to communicate programmes already achieved and not to expect any new developments."
"This will be the basis of the party's communication strategy."
