PNP calls for stronger action against wearing of masks

The People's National Party (PNP) yesterday via a news release expressed outrage at the continued wearing of masks by Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporters at political rallies and campaign motorcades. This the PNP says comes despite rulings by the political ombudsman and the police banning the practice.

The PNP stated that it had already ensured that all supporters obey the directive not to wear such masks. The PNP pointed out, however, that Opposition supporters were still being seen in masks on the campaign trail.
"With the unfortunate incidents of violence in the campaign, it is a real possibility that unscrupulous persons are using these masks to cover up wrongdoings," the PNP statement said.
The PNP said the police had a clear responsibility to deal decisively with persons of whichever party who continue to defy the ban on masks during the campaign.
