  • Two new lime production pl ants put into operat ion at Maggoty in St. Elizabeth and Halse Hall in Clarendon
  • Increased export of limestone whiting to the United States and other countries
  • Millions of dollars spent on bauxite community development projects to benefit rural communities
  • Quarry operators bonded to ensure restoration of after mining
  • Gold prospecting in Main Ridge, Clarendon resumed with the construction of a plant for the extraction of gold
  • Resumed shipments of bauxite to Kaiser's rebuilt Gramercy plant in Louisiana
  • Government played role in bringing about a reconfiguration of the new plant to process both monohydrate and trihydrate bauxite, instead of only trihydrate bauxite.
